Associazione Culturale Research Network
Our mission
Τὴν πρόληψιν λέγουσιν οἱονεὶ κατάληψιν, ἢ δόξαν ὀρθὴν ἢ ἔννοιαν, ἢ καθολικὴν νόησιν ἐναποκειμένην.
“By preconception they mean a sort of apprehension or a right opinion or notion, or universal idea stored in the mind”.
(Diogenes Laertius, Vitae philosophorum, 10, 33, ed. R.H. Dicks 1926)
Prolepsis (Πρόληψις) is created as a result of an idea of some MA and PhD students of the former department of “Scienze dell’Antichità e del Tardoantico” of the University of Bari, who, being involved in study or research experiences carried out in foreign universities or institutions, intend to organize innovative events in their University and city of origin, with the aim of increasing the international academic cultural exchange among students and young scholars.

Prolepsis Research Network
Dear Prolepsis supporters, we have been thinking carefully about what to do with our society now that the committee hasn't been renewed, and after careful consideration (and a well deserved break), we have decided to keep it alive in the form of a network.
What does this mean?
We appreciate that the initial purpose of Prolepsis as an association (establishing and reinforcing the practice of graduate conferences in Italy) has been fully achieved, and the need for a new committee was not as strong as in the past – hence the non-renewal, which didn't surprise or discourage us.
Prolepsis needed to become something else, a broader and more fluid entity. As a non-profit network, Prolepsis will cease having a centralised structure. There will be no presidents or secretaries, just a net of supporters. Our activities will only take place online, in the forms of roundtables, book launches, open discussions on various topics, and whatever more any visionary minds will suggest. Our future initiatives will be free, inclusive, flexible. Interdisciplinarity is also among our goals.
For these purposes we have created a new email address where we can be contacted: prolepsis.network@gmail.com
